Overview The Chaplin Fellowship in Distinguished Journalism, supported by an
endowment from Duty Free Shoppers, Ltd., brings to the East-West Center a
distinguished author or journalist to deliver a major address, write articles of
particular relevance to Hawaii and its future, and to make other professional
contributions to the community. Founded in 1986, the program honors
award-winning journalist George W. Chaplin, an early advocate of East-West
business and cultural exchanges and former editor of The Honolulu Advertiser.
