Overview The University of Luxembourg, in collaboration with the Université
Libre de Bruxelles, is inviting applications for the National Research Fund PhD
Grant Scheme in the Life Sciences Research Unit (LSRU) within the Faculty of
Science, Technology and Communication: PhD student in Cell Biology – Systems
Biology (M/F) - Application to the PhD grant scheme from Fonds National de la
Recherche (Luxembourg) - Financed by the Luxemburgish AFR (aide à la formation
recherche) fellowship (http://www.afr.lu) - 3-year fixed-term contract,
full-time, renewable 1 year under justified circumstances - Student and employee
status - Beginning earliest October 15th, 2011 The objective of the project is
to use a modeling-based approach to gain further insights on the mechanistic of
pro-inflammatory processes occurring in major diseases. More precisely, the
study will focus on the characterization of calcium-dependent oxidative activity
in human neutrophils. A computational approach will be used to rationalize data
from the Life Science Research Unit into a mathematical model that can predict
new functional schemes
